In einem hochspannenden Wettkampf lieferte das deutsche Team der Junioren bei der Europameisterschaft der Bahnradsportler in Cottbus die erste Medaille für Deutschland. Die Junioren qualifizierten sich als Schnellste des Vorlaufes und mit der zweitbesten Zeit in der Zwischenrunde souverän für das Finale. Colin Rudolph, Tim-Louis Werner und Theo Fischer (HSG Uni Greifswald), der nach dem Vorlauf Benjamin Bock ersetzte, trafen im Finale auf ein starkes französiches Team, dem sie nur knapp unterlagen. 425 Sportler aus 30 Nationen nehmen noch bis Sonntag an den Entscheidungen teil.
